sparker, sorry I was just stating my opinion it was to low. I have heard of dry incubating but I dont believe I will be trying it. The reason I said 30% was to low my buddy that got me into the BLRW has a Hova-Bator 1588 regular model and when he first got it he filled it full 42 eggs and he kept the humidty at 20-30% the whole time and didn't have a single hatch? Out of 42 eggs! The second go round he read the directions that tell you to incubate at 50% humidty and had a 85% hatch rate. Not trying to compare apples to oranges just trying to give some good info. I will also add the 8 hens had been laying for almost a year and was in with 2 Roosters so the eggs were fertile. I also know anything is possible I have the Hov-Bator 1602N W/Turner and the temp has been constantly at 99-100 degree range. I have kept my humdity at 40-50% mostly 45-50%. I just candled lastnight and had 12 out of 13 BLRW look great and the other one looked ok. And the 2 Gold Laced Brahma eggs look great aswell so I'm happy all the way around with my setup. My eggs were started on 3/14 - is that close enough to participate??  I don't see anyone hatching closer to my date!

I started with 22 shipped (from ebay) EE eggs.  All developed - I lost three, but so far the other 19 are doing fine.  I'm very pleased, since they were shipped I wasn't counting on their developing so well.  This will be my second time trying to incubate eggs...my first (a disaster) was in a homemade sytrofoam cooler with a dimmer switch and I didn't have any success.  High temp spikes killed most, and the few that survived died - most likely due to high humidity.  This time around I have a much improved incubator...a nice cooler with a thermostat wired to the light and a computer fan running.  My temps are steady at 99.5, and humidity is around 25-30%.  I originally had it at 45% but it was suggested on another thread to try a dry hatch - so that's what I'm doing.  So far so good.  I really hope I have better luck this time around!

Hey can I join in? I set my twelve eggs on March 14 (Pi day) so they're due on April 3.

I set eggs on 3/23 and will be setting more this week.  I won the cochin auction on e-bay from Banjoejoe       I waited until the last five minutes and put in my bid.  Someone tried to outbid me in the last minute, but they didn't make it.  Ran the price up from $2 to $18, but I was okay with that.  His chickens are awesome.  I found someone selling bantam lavendar Ameraucana eggs so I got them to put with Mrs. Fluffy Puffy's.  It's actually the stock she bought from, but there are some new breeders in the pen so I will be okay on that.  I am saying I hope I have so many of these chicks running around here since they were so hard to find.  My four little baby chicks moved to the big chick pen today!

I am hoping to win another auction in the morning....taking my computer along to church and will be frantically searching somewhere close to there for some WiFi.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.  If I get them, that only leaves one more chicken/color I want and I will be finished this year for getting my chickens together and ready to go next year!!!!!  I am so excited.
