How many are expecting to put into lockdown?

25 for me:) So far.I will candle tonight for the last time. I and the girls will be so excited to see some babies on Saturday/Sunday/Monday. I'm sure the girls won't want to leave to incubator once the chirping starts. I incubated a bunch of wild turkey's last year( we were mowing hay and ran over the nest, crushed some eggs but ended up with 3 that developed) and only one hatched out and man was that exciting. Now we have a bunch of chicks that may hatch. Can't count my chickens before they hatch:wee.gifwee.gifwee.gif

I will be locking down tonight.  I candled last night and there was one more quitter - I have either 15 or 16 eggs left - one is olive and too dark to see if anything's going on in there.

The wait is killing me!  I just want to see my babies!!!  They should hatch on Wednesday...

Good luck to everyone!

Well I just candled them all and one more has been removed down to 24 out of 28. Now lets see what hatches this weekend.

I just candled a few... the ones that I thought were unfertile, and they looked the same.  I will leave them in until lockdown Tuesday aft... then I will lay the remaining ones down.  I threw out one blood ringed one... but it looked like that (sort of) on day 8.  Its out.  I did sneak a look at a couple others, that had lively moving embryo's on day 8... and I can't see anything, its all dark in there!  Chicks??  My first time, and I can't wait!

Hey Guys, Sorry I've been out of the loop for a while things have been crazy around here. So interesting story for you guys so my wife was leaving Church this morning and saw 3 eggs? under a bush and brought them home. I candled them and they look fertile so I put them in the incubator with mine. Any ideas what they might be? There whiteish and a little bit bigger than a large egg like you would get from a grocery store. What do you guys think turkey? Duck? Maybe? Any thoughts or ideas would be great! I also candled my 7 BLRW eggs 2 nites ago and they all looked good.smile.png I will candle them again tonite and let you guys know how they look. I will be waiting untill Wed (Day 10) to candle my other 25 I put in 1 week later.

Yippeee on your BLRW.  Those are absolutely beautiful chickens.

Good luck on your egg find......maybe they were just leftovers from an Easter egg hunt, LOL!  With an awesome surprise.

I haven't candled anymore. I guess I will candle on day 18 when I remove the egg turner and see how many look promising. I hope they won't be too dark to see anything ???  Some of your eggs and some of mine are a little too dark to tell anything about. I have just been adding water thru the vent holes and watching the temps. Haven't opened any lids since day 10. LOL. Hope I'm not making a mistake.  Best of luck to everyone !!!!  We don't have long to go  ya.gif

I'm not opening my lid this time either.  I am incubating in egg crates so I just prop up the box on a book and turn it several times a day.  I just added four dozen more eggs to the incubator tonight and I'm nervous about it.  I warmed them up in the hatching bator so surely they were a good temperature before I transferred them and I won't have temperature swings.  I had them warming for over 24 hours.  My incubator is stuffed full and I want to bid on some eggs tonight to go with something I am hoping to hatch out.  I wish I had a HUGE incubator and I could stick 100 eggs in there!
