I had some eggs in the bater. We had horrible wind storms and brown outs so the temp was all jacked up. Even though people say using an egg turner does not affect the development, I think it does. Compared to ones I lay on side and turn myself the stages at candling were totalyl different, it was almost as if they were behind a few days. Anyway the first batch in one bater, did not make it, I had two that I had to start to hatch out myself but they did not survive. Now on to bater #2 yesterday was day 26, I told my son we needed to check them just to make sure and toss them. I forgot about them the entire day and went up last night and 3 have pipped and are making progress as I type.

I hope they are ok, they went thru temperature and humidity changes, they are well over due....I cant wait to see them. I'm just thankful I didnt kill them before they had a chance to hatch!!

This morning he still wasnt out of the egg. The humitidy was pretty low and he looked dry. I took him out and held him in a wet cloth to soften him up. He still sounded strong. I picked the shell completely off him. the membrane dry and stuck to him, no blood. I softened it up more and started picking away at that. His little head was so dried and matted to his shoulders I had to pry it off. I got his little feet un-curled and his wings un matted. I all but gave this little one CPR. Right now he is in the bater drying. He seems to be getting stronger. I hope he makes it. He is the only survivor out of about 30 eggs!!!!

Yay! That's great! I hope they are all hens lol! Are they out yet?

Two stopped doing anything. the other has a big hole and she's trying to chirp but thing is coming out. She gets most of her beak out and I can see inside and it still looks very wet and I do see blood...not lots but it's there. This is all something new to me, I've never gone to even day 21, usually when I go on lock down at day 18 I start getting pips. I just hope she's not in there struggling, I dont want to intervene because the zip seems to be moving along...guess I'll just wait and see.

I dont know what to do. He pipped last night. Now there is a big hole in the shell, it never zipped. It's entire beak is out as well as his head when he sticks it out. It's very wet...which I'm sure is a good thing. The membrane is away from the sides of the shell (at least part surrounding the hole) it's kind of stuck to the chick. It's bloody but not oozing blood, sort of just like veins that are bloody. He's chirping now and does not sound stressed. Do I leave him? I've watched so many eggs hatch before and it is nothing like this one. This egg at day 18 looked like maybe it had something in it so I kept it, I never thought this out of the rest would even hatch. At lock down the egg was mostly clear with just a small portion solid black, I thought it was a dead under developed chick. These eggs should have hatched four days ago!
