Too early to identify??? McMurray Rare Exotic chick with order 3-29-12 Updated photo

I am sooooooooo curious.  I can hardly wait to find out what he/she will be when he/she grows up.  I tried taking some close up photos, but if you need better photos let me know what you need.  Chick is about 3 days old.

 

I would really like to know if this is a rooster or a hen, hubby says because it is so much bigger then the Barred Rock chicks that is probably a rooster.  Also, if there is any way to identify what breed he/she is, I would love to know!!!

 

The red markings on the head and a little on the chest are how McMurray distinguished him/her from the rest of the order.

 

All I know is this one sure is a sweetie.  Likes to be held, always comes running when we reach down in to the brooder.

I'm guessing a Buff Orpington. Is it's fluff more yellow or golden?

Red (as we are calling it since it has the red marking on its head) is quite fluffy and more golden colored then the little white silkies that we also ordered.  The silkies are more of a pale yellow, but maybe that is because they don't have as much fluff as this one.

 

Buff Orpingtons aren't exactly what I would call rare.  If that is what it is, then I'm a little bit disappointed.

It COULD be a Delaware chick. The wing feathers look to be white, but I could be wrong.

Not a buff orpington??  celebrate.gifNo offense to those that like Buff Orpingtons, but I wanted something kind of rare and different.

What I mean by a beard is this.. I have a yellow EE with a beard, but it has green legs. Some EEs will have yellow legs, but it is not the norm. I really don't think it's a buff orpington.

here is my full grown BO - You can see the legs here. They should be pink if she was a BO.

I wouldn't want a Hatchery BO, but SQ Buff Orpingtons are harder to come by than you could imagine wink.png Mine was acquired after a 7 hour road trip lol.

What color are its legs? Hard to see in the picture. Do I see a bit of a green tint to the legs? If so, could be an Easter Egger big_smile.png
