Is it normal for chicken wire to be ridiculously 'soft' and flimsy when trying to tack it to the posts?

It bends at impossible angles and is only tight around the edges where I stretch it and nail it down. The middle is sad and pathetic.

It's 48" x 150' with 1" ga.

I'm putting up the chicken wire first and will reinforce the bottom halves with hardware cloth.

I do not know what chicken wire is used for but I will not ever use it again. It is sharp and a pain to stretch. It wont be flimsy if you can stretch it taught enough. Use welded wire fencing.
