I went ahead and set 20 more Calls last night.  I still have 3 or 4 going that are due on the 17th.  My test bantams didn't fair so well....had one lavendar Ameracauna hatch and I had to help him.  He and another were peeping since yesterday, but no external pips.  They were both still peeping this morning, then one went quiet.  I opened up and it was ready but didn't hatch, so I went in after this one and saved it.  Bad thing is, my son was supposed to take the bantam chicks to his AG class.  Now I have to go to the feedstore and get a couple more and not tell him only one egg hatched, lol.

Hello Peter! Welcome to the group! If you need any help or advice, you are welcome to post here and/or the Hatch Day thread. There are lots of very helpful, supportive people here!

I don't think I could handle hatching Muscovy ducks. They take an extra week and after about day 14, I'm going stir crazy wanting to meet the babies! May I ask what Muscovy eggs look like? I've got a good source for Runner eggs but they also have Muscovies and I don't want to accidentally set Muscovies and wonder why they're not hatching on time!

I think I might candle everything I have in the bators tonight. I know I've got a quitter in my WH eggs that needs to go. I'm so impatient, how will I ever wait for another week?

I have found that scovies have a much bigger egg than a Runner, and the Runners had rounder eggs with the scovies having a more traditionally shaped egg.  At least that's what I've experienced.

I candled tonight and I'm down to 2 Call's still cooking.  I hear you about being impatient....I'm only on day 12 he.gif
