setting eggs tomorrow.... 3-21-12 who wants to join? - Page 22

We are up to 18 hatchees!!  Still have 15 eggs in the bator - two have pipped. Today is day 20 for the majority of those remaining. So far I'm at a better than 50% hatch rate (which is awesome, considering my 35% avg rate my last two hatches).wee.gif

Awww, cute! Do i spy a naked neck in there?

I went to check on my eggs around 3pm today. Both marans eggs have pipped, which I find hilarious, considering I thought they seemed behind. Then one ameraucana egg. I thought two more looked like they were about to officially pip, but hadn't quite done it.

And now I have to wait EIGHTEEN FREAKING HOURS before I can check on them again.  You better believe I'll be waiting at that school tomorrow morning for the teachers to arrive.  I bet there will be at least 2-3 chicks waiting for me.

It's killing me to miss them hatching. So not fair!  Remind me again why I chose to sign up for not one, but TWO hatches at a school where I can't control it?

So far I have nothing. barnie.gif I put my eggs in lockdown a day early and am having trouble maintaining humidity (around 60%) in our homemade incubator. (still air).  patiently waiting and worried that I have caused their demise. sad.png

We're at 20 now, and have two pips.  Had a near-fatal mishap though!

We had been outside and came in to check on them.  We were laughing away at one who had fallen asleep standing, with his/her head in the food tray (LOL), when I looked over and saw one submerged in the waterer!  (How he/she managed to get like that, I don't know!)  I grabbed it, dried it and rubbbed and shook it (gently) to try to revive it. It started gasping for breath. The only thing I knew to do was keep it warm and try to keep it stimulated. I worked with it for a few minutes, and decided to stick it back in the bator.  That was about 4hrs or so ago, and I *think* its going to make it! Its still sleeping a LOT in the bator, but its drying back out, and is moving about from time to time, and peeping loudly occasionally. My daughter has decided to name that one "Lucky". love.gif

Omigosh, that is so scary with the near drowning. I really hope she's ok.

Rocking and rolling is good- it means they're moving into hatching position.

I wonder how my eggs are doing. I wonder if there's chicks. I bet there is by now.
