Will the government take away your chickens? - Page 7

The screening process is a lot like obtaining a protective order in the idea is that with protective orders are given in part to keep the door open to those that need protection and the penalty for abusing the system is minor and in Oregon if you are successful in not getting a PO against you you are not entitled to attorney fees if you win and the false accusor is free to accuse someone else.  In reality the food stamp program is the same way they are very relaxed to not discourage people from asking and they do not dig very deep to verify info.  How do you verify nothing? if that is what you claim to have. People work under the table, manipulate the facts, purposefully work just enough to "qualify" and flat out lie until caught and then have a relative get them. You do not even need an address.  I personally know folks abusing the system currently and they are very good at folling a caseworker and playing on their sympathy. Pennslvania has a whopping .01% fraud rate in the foodstamp program.  Most successful fraud prosecutions are against the retailer or so I read.

Give me a break, you are providing the info for them to later varify... pulleezz

"Guns don't kill people abortion kills people."

The human will is too powerful for philosophy or science.

Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton agreed on little publicly, but they did agree that when the public treasury becomes a public trough and the voters recognize that, they will send to government only those who promise them a bigger piece of the pie

Not yet, but coming soon.  "This is for the needy, not the greedy."  Government always protects it's own.  In Zimbabwe the controlling party is virtually starving their opposition.

rufus....I had not realized before that you were from Zimbabwe.  Now your previous posts make sense.  That is a tough place to be and we will be praying for you and your family and hope that Robert Mugabe eventually gets thrown out of power.  Good luck

What worries me about these social welfare schemes is what will happen when the government cannot or will not fund them anymore.  So many people are becoming dependent upon them.  These people will not be denied their way of life.

When the Chinese realize that all those dollars they are holding are losing value rapidly, they will dump them like a hot rock.  The result will be a massive inflation.  Then no matter how much money the government drops into those card accounts, they will not buy anything.

In Germany in 1923 the government printed so much money, it was cheaper than toilet paper.  It took a wheel barrow of money to buy a loaf of bread.

That was what did in the Weimar Republic and set the stage for the rise of the Nazi party.  Sometime history repeats itself in a most cruel way.

Read a bit about the Speenhamland system.

I don't foresee a happy future.

Robert Mugabe

I had to Google him to see if he was a racist or something.

Hve you ever read the application? even a third grader could manipulate the answers and get benefits.  It is all based on an honor system, they are very relaxed in the requirements as a way to keep the door open to those that may actually need it.  You obviously have no experience with obtaining social welfare and how it works.

My best friend is on food stamps.  She cannot buy alcohol or cigarettes.  I already explained how the card does not allow you to do so.  I guess that they fixed the problem that your article refers to?  So, you are wrong, I do have familiarity with how foodstamps work and how it is obtained.  They do varify people's information and they do require updates every year about each case.  It is not based on the honor system.

Here are the foodstamp rules, if you want to bother with reality: http://foodstampguide.org/using-food-stamps/

Heres what you have to prove to get food stamps: http://foodstampguide.org/required-verifications/

I am going to pray for you anyway because I think you are really going to be upset because I foresee a really good future for myself and others like me, notwithstanding your gloomy predictions for yourself.  Chickened, I hear the weather in Zinbabwe is very balmy this time of year.

Im not surprised. Farmers are so heavily regulated by the Government its scary. They are not allowed to keep any leftover seeds, they are regluated as to what kind of seeds they can plant and on and on it goes.  If they take the chickens, that is alot of food source now taken away that we will be forced to buy eggs and meat regulated by... big brother.
