Hunger Games - Page 2

I just got back from seeing it as well.  I did not read the books but my son did.  He said it pretty much followed the book.  My other son is 8 years old and  had no issues with it except the dogs scared him a little.

I thought it was a good movie.

I'm now curious about the hunger games, seeing as so many people have been talking about it. It's gone from being just a "good series" to what everyone's now talking about here. I haven't heard a bad review yet, so I think I'm going to go see the movie soon. Should be interesting.

I was really dissapointed in the movie. They left alot out. They didnt really explain the story line that well and Peeta never lost his leg like he was suppose to (that could effect the second book) and Katniss never lost her hearing in her one ear like she was suppose (also has an effect in the second book) There was alot of other things that I noticed to. Im really wondering what they are going to do between Peeta and Katniss because the first book ends with him saying he really is in love with her and Her thinking it was just for the games. I really hate it when they leave stuff out.

Oh and the dogs at the end. That was suppose to be the fallen contestants just gentically altered.

I did not remeber peeta losing the leg. But I DO remember the hearing issue. A big thing they left out was the "cuddling or sleeping in the same bed" not sex, it wasn't sexual it was comforting, bonding etc. THAT was not in movie at ALL. I guess cuz they didn't want to deal with that aspect. But my DD13 sure commented on it!

The dogs at the end were supposed to have the faces of the other contestants. All in all I DID think it was a great movie that stayed true but not exact to the book. Throughout the rest of the series , I went back on forth between prefering gale or peeta. I think the author wanted it that way..

They did a GREAT job of laying the groundwork for the next book. It was very good I thought , but yes it WAS violent, and I could see they had to twist it to get it pg13.

The movie was pretty good...

Chicken math has struck.

The hens: Goose, BR; Fish and Spork, EEs; Broccoli, mutt; Cricket, WCB Polish.

The pullets: Hobbit, bantam lavender Ameraucana; Quark, bantam silver Ameraucana

The chicks: Banjo, BLRW; (not-names-yet), white Sultan

And two beautiful, illegal roosters.  Trying to find homes.

Yeah at the end the medicine does not stop the damage in his leg and they take him off the field and take his leg. There was alot of things that they left out but I wasnt going to sit here and write them all. They did do a good job with the movie I just wish that they would not have left out as much as they did or change how she actually got the pin. The next movie will be interesting because of how they will change it to what they left out in this movie.

I thought the movie was great. Sure there are things left out and some modifications but they were dealing with a very limited time frame. As it was the movie came in at 2 hours 20 minutes. Theaters don't like long movies and usually 90 minutes is the preferred length to keep people moving in and out. Imagine the scenes that would have been cut had they tried for less than 2 hours?

Wait for the extended version for a lot of the fluff that we all love and missed. It happened with the Lord of the Rings trilogy. There was the theatrical release, and then the extended version. The extended version had cut scenes that didn't add too much to the storyline but meant something to LOTR fans. So I expect there to be more scenes with the DVD release.

Spoiler.....

My only complaint was that Katniss didn't receive a parachute with bread from District 11 after the death of Rue.

I"m 40-something, and have read all 3  books and am planning on seeing the movie this week, maybe a matinee or something. My friends at work saw it and said it was pretty good.

Saw it yesterday, and I thought it was great. My daughter has read all three books, and is quite obsessed with the series. I haven't read the book, but pretty much knew what was going on through her. The beginning of the actual "game" bothered me. sad.png Probably the mom in me. And I actually cried about Rue! I don't cry in movies very often. My daughter is already whining how she can't wait for the second movie to come out....in November of 2013. It's going to be along 1 1/2 years!
