New to chickens from Portland, OR

We just got our first 3 chicks last Saturday, 1 RIR, 1 Dark Brahma and 1 Salmon Faverolle. Our coop is fully designed and mostly sited but the work still needs to be done...waiting for some decent weather! This site has been a tremendous resource already with regard to coop design, feeders, waterers and general information on raising chicks and chickens, so thanks to all contributors!

 

All the talk about chicken math on here made me chuckle at first, then yesterday I found myself searching the web for information on how to get a permit for more than three chickens in the city! :) Funny how that works? I think we will stick with three for now, but with 12 sq feet of coop and 40 sq feet of run, and eventually a fully enclosed back yard we should have room to add one or two more in the future.

Always calibrate your hygrometer before you incubate!!
