RP takeover

I don't mind RP's at, all and although I don't play them I'm sure they are very fun. however, they are begining to takeover the GJF section, it is getting hard to find the threads that you want to look at because they are burried under a bunch of roleplay games hmm.png I know that this is out of your control, but would it be possible to limit the number of RP's?

I don't think that's fair, how do you decide?- it would be nice if there was a subforum under GJF for RP threads.

Then to get to the RP threads it's just one more click. I understand it hasn't been done because it would seem BYC is 'promoting' RPG- but really there is a GJF forum-

Maybe as most of the threads have the same rules there could be a RP rule sticky-

In the same sticky a link to each of the active RP games.

Standard rules for Role Playing at BYC

1) ALL BYC rules apply

2) no killing without permission of the character or the storyteller

3) no -adult- situations, keep everything PG or G.

4) How "time" is different than real life will be posted in each games first thread, a month game time may be only a week real time.

5) Be polite, some people don't know how Roleplay or have real lives that take time away from games

6) The storyteller has final say in each thread.

7) No Crying to the mods- work it out unless there is abuse of the BYC rules.

That way it can be omitted from the 'search' and 'new post' but left in 'hot topics' and not clutter everything up.

The problem with this is there might be no more 'slots' for forums or no way to create "subforums".

thumbsup.gif This is a better idea.

And by the way, Idy, its not just the RPs; its also the chat threads and the games that drown out the threads you're looking for.

Well where do we draw the line?

We need a clear plan to propose to Rob.

Chat Threads 'under' Random Ramblings forum as a subforum?

Remember we don't want to -make- a headache we want to -cure- one.

And this software may or may not be able to support subforums or nestled forums - if that's true it would be a new forum and might not be able to be excluded filtered searches.

Actually we need to be able to customize the buttons in the drop down, there is already a way to exclude GJF and BAS forums from 'new post' and 'unanswered post' but I can't find where those links are.

There are ways to avoid sections or stuff you aren't interested in.   Actually it's pretty easy (I haven't seen a RP thread in weeks and I'm on here all day long  big_smile.png  )

That sucks because if you don't look at "new posts" in general you could be missing something important to you or missing the opportunity to help someone with a problem.

I agree with the OP the role play threads seem to be quite numerous and I thought this was a chicken forum.......

Maybe the mods should take some time and see how much time they have to put into moderating the roleplay threads and see if it is something they wish to continue.

As far as I know they don't- If they are already allowing RP threads, clearly they are not a problem...

This is a community, a family- some like to RP, some don't- if you don't don't click.

I don't like certain things that there -are- whole sections for... I just don't click.

It doesn't take that much time to skim the topics- the RP's have the title... suchandwatever RP

I agree. Seems the chicken forum is being overtaken, as evidenced by, "Most posts," "Most Active Threads."

Just my opinion..............
