Rescue Duck deformed leg

Thank you for replying :) I bought the incubator home and have been keeping an eye on her, she still rests it backwards but she is moving it forwards more. Somewhere said vitamin E may also help? I was going to get some in town as a vet on the phone said human capsules are fine for this?

I've read about the vitamin E deficiency too. According to these findings , a single dose of 300iu will bring about remission .
Your little guy has the classic symptoms of ' star gazing ' or muscle atrophy so I would recommend a course of thiamine B1 replacement . I would also consider changing his diet.

She hadn't eaten yet when we got to school this morning, I'm guessing she hatched yesterday evening or last night. I bought some vitamin e capsules and put some in her water, just human ones, hope that's ok. Was very confused by all the b vitamins and wasn't sure how they relate to ducks? She also seems to not see much, keeps walking through the others and into the side of the brooder when we put her in earlier :( things arn't looking good

Ducks need more niacin than chicks and you may need to consider that this may be an incubation issue. However it does appear to be a thiamine deficiency. I would still address that.

How would incubation be the problem? My other 7 are fine and healthy, could it be parentage? Would I be able to get thiamine in a human health shop?

Yes that is certainly a possibility , by incubation I meant before hatch and therefore out of your control. The brewers yeast is a good source of thiamine and niacin. Polyvisol infant drops without iron is another option and there are various parrot and baby bird formulas available at pet shops that will cover the essential vits and minerals. Keeping the duckling hydrated is essential and at this early stage anorexia is another possibility. The product that I use is called poly-aid plus .
Not sure if it is available in the US.

Good news...Lily has done fantastically this week! With a lot of love and attention, plus vitamin e and peas she is now pretty much a 'normal duck' She still occasionally throws her head back when drinking but this may now be a habit thing. She went to the farm this week with the other 7 and is happy :)

I have a deformed duck too but instead of turned sideways its backwards. Any tips for me???? Any help would be appreciated! I bathe him daily and keep him in a small tote with food and water he can't walk or swim.he seems to use his bill to get around.
