You have to get this perfectly level for the water to work and then sometime it still leaks. You have to monkey around with for it to work. The handle is welded cheaply and busted off...

Leghorns are great egg laying chickens. They are friendly to other Leghorns and can easily fly. The only problems is that they are bad in the pecking order and they can make a mess of the yard....

seem like a good breed, if i had the room i would probably raise a batch of them they seem like they would be a good 4h starter show bird...considering i dont see many of this breed in my class...

When my peacock starts calling, all the guineas call back. Soon as the guineas get started, the peacock seems to be whispering compared to the racket my guinea flock is making.

Lol! I will bet! I have been doing some reasearch and from what I gather, the guineas are quite a bit more obnoxious than the peacocks. I've been thinking about it and I think my plan is that I am going to give a try to two guineas and should a peacock in the right price range come my way, then I might just get him too. We shall see.

I would LOVE to have a flock of about 8 guineas. I have been watching youtube videos of their behavior and I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard. I think the best is the running. OMG, I almost pulled a muscle in my back laughing over that! My hope is, that over time my husband will get used to the noise and start to enjoy the silliness. Maybe next spring I will be able to get a few more .

Well, looks like I'm gonna give it a try. I went over to a nearby town for a meeting last night and stopped in to TSC just to take a look (never a good idea for me, lol). I started talking with the clerk who handles the chicks and she told me that Monday, they would be getting in a bunch of keets.

Sooooo. Is there anything I need to know or do before I go get any of these little guys? I have done well with my chicks who are now 3 and 4 weels old and they seem to be quite happy. I just want to make sure that I can be as good of a keet mom as I have been a chick mom.

How well do keets do being handled? I mean obviously you dont want to maul them, lol. I just like to have my critters well socialized whenever possible and I want to make sure I don't over do it with them.
