Another cockrel or pullet test! I have 3 light brahmans abt 12 weeks old. One has a bright red comb and wattle while the others dont. My husband said something and upon further inspection it appears that one has some curve at the too if its tail feathers. Do I have a cockrel in my Coop?
Yep. One of those Brahmas is definitely a cockerel.

What is that line of feathers on the back?? Is that the saddle?

Hello all! This is my first time posting! I am new at raising chicks, but I've always been a research queen. I have 3 rir's (3 months old) and was suspicious one was a rooster. I came across a great YouTube video that told the difference. So far it's been accurate, and one is a rooster. I have 25 chicks they are all one week old. All are suppose to be hens. And out of all I know one for sure is a rooster. You can tell when they start to get their tail feathers. If the are rounded and defined, they are hens. If they are pointy on the ends, you have a rooster. I will post some pics of my one weeks you can obviously tell. I've heard this won't work for Easter Eggers or Aracunas and I have 6

The black and white ones are Colombian Wyndottes and the brown is a Brown Leghorn.

Inaccurate method.

Now to the barred rocks. We have several both male and female. The males usually show the barring more pronounced early vs the females looking more speckled than barred for a while. Males have more white on black vs females more black with white (if that makes sense). Right now my babies are 5 weeks and the combs/wattles are JUST growing slightly bigger but by the feather coloring Ive know who was the roosters.
WOULD YOU POST PICTURES? I HAVE 2 BARRED ROCKS (8 WEEKS OLD) ONE WITH A PRONOUNCED BUT PALE COMB, ONE WITHOUT ANY COMB, BUT AREA IS RED. WOULD LOVE TO COMPARE
