So my SCAM worked on my husband....

Last year, I told my husband that I needed a new coop. I have one coop and all my chickens are in it, well needless to say it's getting very crowded.  He started it in May, 2011, we got the boarder up and he started working on the nesting boxes and sleeping grounds.  Then stopped, a year later needless to say the coop is still not finished, OH not because of supplies, not because of wood or nails, or what not.  Nope the excuse is we don't have enough chicken wire.  OK, so after a year of frustration because the coop is NOT done, I decided to post on Craigslist, in need of chicken wire.  Got a response, this person just gave us the wire.  NO more excuses right?  HA, HA HA.  When we got home from getting the wire, He's in the house watching NASCAR, OH PLEASE.... I went outside and started working on the coop, I come in after 2 hours to get something to drink and he asks "so how's it going out there?"  YEAH, that's right, what NERVE.....  I went just find I have the nesting boxes put together for the first coop (but all honestly, I didn't, I took more smoke breaks then EVER).  Then he wants to know how I did it.  So I tell him, HERE COMES THE CRITICISMS.. I'm doing this wrong, I'm doing that wrong, This isn't going to work, that isn't going to hold. BLAH BLAH BLAH......  I finally looked at him and said "why did you ask?"

Now he's going to show ME, how to make a coop...

He gets up, puts his NASCAR crap on record.  OH YES RRRREEEECCCCCOOOORRRRDDDD.  Comes outside and guess what, WE/HE ARE WORKING ON THE COOP.  ha ha haha....

So far the first coop is done, I need to get some straw and it needs a door to the front so I can keep them confined.

The second coop needs the doors put on to close them up at night, plus a ramp to get into it at night and a front door to keep them confined.

Tomorrow the plan is to get all the doors on and to work on the third coop.

SO Here's some advise to WOMEN, Pretend that you know what your doing, act as though you are doing it.

But most important thing of all is to: Let him act like "Mr. Know it all and be Captain Commando".  and perhaps this scam will work for you.. HA HA HAHA.  I don't know why I waiting a YEAR to think of this but at least it's getting DONE...  FINALLY lol, lol,lol.....

Hmm.  Why would your husband have to do anything?  I built my coop and run by myself.  Husband had no interest in it, it was my project.  I had a lot of satisfaction when I had it all done.  Criticism doesn't hurt me, he can criticize all he wants, if he had wanted it done differently he should have helped. It is what it is (and it is darn good if I say so myself).

So all women, .. you can do this yourself!  Educate yourself on use of powertools and building principles and it's a breeze.  This is NOT rocket science.

16 hens own me.  3 Black Australorps, 3 Dominiques, 2 Golden Laced Wyandottes, 3 Welsummers, 3 golden comets, 1 New Hampshire Red and 1 Ameraucana.

I'd be happy to build the coop if DH took care of the kids while I did it, made dinner, laundry, food shopping, etc...etc... But after working outside all day and having to come in, plan dinner, homework, baths, etc phooey! You did what you needed to so the job got done! It's a true sign of management smile.png

I'm not allowed to use his POWER Tools so everything would have to be done with Hammer and nail, that is if he would even allow me to touch them.  He's terrible protective of his tools, I think all men are protective of there tools, whether they use them or not...  But the good news is it's getting DONE.
