New Here, And Liking it.

hello everyone. My Name is Cookie, and my Rooster is DeWalt. DeWalt likes to sit on the toolbox in the morning...hense his name. I acquired him from the farm across the road about 8 months ago. He's tame , loves to be petted, and interacted with. Today I got 2 Road Island Reds and now want to make sure I'm doing it right.

  Glad to meet you all.

1 Cochin Rooster (DeWalt) R.I.P 10/4/12, 1 Rhode Island Red Rooster, 4 Rhode Island Reds , TicTac the Choodle (Chihuahua/Poodle) and Molly my Terrier Mix, Pond Frogs.

Oooh! You started with a rooster!  How cool!  So many folks either can't keep roosters where they live or they get an "accidental" rooster in a bunch of "pullet" chicks they buy and want to know how to get rid of it.  I LIKE YOU!!!!

My flock is fairly large (50+) with five roosters.  There were many more but I finally had to find homes for some of them.  That was TOUGH.  I loves my roos.

DeWalt is a great rooster name.  big_smile.png

Welcome to BYC -  you are definitely in the right place to learn, share, and enjoy your chicken-keeping experience.

Buncha Outdoor PET chickens, ducks, two Toulouse ganders, and four turkeys. Plus 2 wiener dogs, some bunnies and a rescue cat which owns me. Oh. And a house silkie....

DeWalt is a blessing. I LOVE the wake up calls...and sometimes, I sleep through them. It's like a Grandfather Clock...you get use to it.    I live in the country, 3 acres, and DeWalt runs free. It is fenced, but mostly chainlink and chicken wire.

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
