Anybody setting today (3-25) or tomorrow (3-26)??

I just put 2 Indian Runner eggs in a nest last night and 2 from today and it seems as though my Rhode Island Red has started to sit on them.   We'll see if she'll stay there.  I've got my fingers crossed.  She has not gone broody yet but my two Buff Orpingtons have.  I thought it would be one of them.  :o)

i will be setting eggs hopefully tomorrow night! i'm waiting on some EE eggs to come in the mail. they were suppose to be here yesterday, but nope! >:( anyway, i'm setting 16 shipped silkie eggs, 12 (or so) shipped EE, 9 local bantam eggs, and then i'm gonna put in as many barnyard mixes (local) that i can fit after that. i'm hatching for myself and an elderly man i know. so i would love to hatch along!

I set eggs under a broody today, too! It's actually my first time letting a broody have her way, so we'll see how it goes. She's a salmon faverolle named Sophie. She's such a character, we call her the yard monitor because she's always walking around keeping everyone in line. We recently introduced a roo to the flock of 7 hens, and started setting eggs in the incubator last month. We're on hatch #3 from the incubators, it's been going well so far except for the fact that none of Sophie's eggs have been fertile. And watching her in the yard, you can see why. She beats up the roo! She won't let him anywhere near her, and I've actually seen her kick him off one of the other hens while he was trying to breed and get into an 'I'm-bigger-than-you!' contest with him. Haha! It's somewhat ironic that Sophie should be the one to go broody. She won't have anything to do with boys, but she wants to be a momma. Go figure. So I tested her with ceramic eggs for a few days, even relocated her to a broody coop, and she seems determined. I set nine eggs under her today, just barnyard crosses from the other girls, but I'm rooting for her! Tomorrow night will be the test, it's supposed to get very cold. But I will candle in a week and see if she's been able to stick with the job.

Set some fertilized eggs under a broody hen late this afternoon. It's my first attempt at hatching eggs (hen or incubator). We'll see how it goes!

How funny I am setting eggs tonight under my salmon faverolle too. she has been sitting on Twelve plastic eggs in her broody pen/box that I built her for the last Three days. I am going to set Twelve of our barnyard eggs under her tonight and hopefully in 20-21 days she will have some baby chicks. This is our first time trying this also as we have only been keeping chickens since last August. I cant wait to see what kind of mixed breeds I end up with our rooster is a buff brahma and we have a buff orpington, lavender orpingtons, blue cochin, ee's, a blue wheton ameraucana, a silver penciled wyandote and a couple of isa browns. I was not sure how many of my girls had fertile eggs but the other day I cracked a bunch for omelets and every one I cracked was fertile. I'm so excited, I really hope this works out.

That's great, kevlar, we can be faverolle-broody-hatch buddies, haha! My roo is a Dominique, and I have two Dom hens, so some of the eggs are full Dominique, but the rest are crosses with Buff Orpington, White Plymouth Rock, Gold Laced Wyandotte, or Silver Laced Wyandotte. They come out mostly looking like Dominiques since they carry the dominant pattern, but the little variations are fun to see. We've only been keeping chickens since this time last year, so it's all new and fun. :)

oh sophie is ADORABLE!! and i must say, if there's ever a certain look to a yard monitor...THAT would be it!

I might have enough eggs to incubate starting this evening. just good ole run of the mill White Rocks.
