Chicken Behavior

Thread Starter

Yesterday my neighbors roo noticed my girls roaming around in my back yard. He was going coo-koo trying to find a way into my yard. Today he finally figured out how to jump over the 6' chainlink fence that separates the 2 proprties, and was strutting his stuff all day and dancing around like a teenager. the lil bugger wouldn't let me get near him to catch him and put him back so i had to use a fishing net. Wouldn't you know it 1/2 hour later he was back, I am going to start charging him by the hour!!!

I got a kick out of it so I had to share

10 RIRs, 1 Ameraucana, 6 EEs,1 Barnyard cross Roo,3 frizzle cochins(1 roo), 2 Blue Andalusians (1 roo), 2 Polish frizzles(1 roo R.I.P. Elvis),1 cocker spaniel, 6 darn cats, 4 fish,and 4 horses rescued from a kill buyer.

My new tag line...added to the end of every sentence--->  "...... after all, they ARE chickens!!!"

I can picture my two boys doing that.

As it is, they have no neighboring hens to lust after, just the segregated ones here. These two are also segregated from each other because they have been intent on beating each other to a pulp ever since they got their hormones a year and a half ago.

They spent all day today smashing their beaks against the poultry mesh fence separating them, trying to get at each other.

Yes, roosters are entertaining all right.

One matronly, yet regal, Light Brahma hen, two Silver-laced Wyandotte hens, two Gold-laced Wyandotte hens, one Black Cochin hen, three Ameraucana hens, one Buff Brahma hen, four sassy Speckled Sussex hens, one Buff Brahma roo, and one nineteen-year old cat who's scared of all of them, especially the roo.
