TULSA area Cluckers

When I had chickens I did let me chickens "free range". But then I expanded my garden and they really like digging in the garden. So I built a bigger run, and I spoiled them with scraps from the garden and kitchen scraps. I have good neighbors who actually do not seem to mind the chickens.

I know our city councelor. His take on it is there are city ordinances.. but they will only be enforced if you have an unhappy neighbor. If you have good neighbor's and you are a a good neighbor you can almost get away with anything.

Just watch out for neighborhoods with Homeowner's associations. If you find a house in one, be sure you know the covenants and the HA rules.

I will definitely have to do that when I don't have to depend on my mom to drive me around. I'm staying with her in Owasso while my broken right femur heals so I hate to ask her to drive me into Tulsa more than I absolutely have to.
Ok, another question for you. Do the chickens destroy your yard when they're out? I mean make a bunch of holes, dig down and bare tree roots, poop everywhere so you can't walk in the yard, etc? Or are 6 chickens too few to do all that?

Chickens like to scratch. They don't neccessarily dig, but the scratch looking for food. Now if you have a garden, they will dig in the garden looking for worms or bugs. And they like tender veggies.

Chickens really make less poop than a dog. Depending on the size of the yard, 6 chickens are not enough to do much damage.

LOL I would offer you our house that we are putting on the market next week but given that we believe the neighbor north of us is the one who reported our chickens to the city I don't think that would be a good idea...

I almost hope the people who buy it from us DO want chickens just to drive the nosy gal crazy.

The one in forclosure is 13310 east 28th Street. That one needs TLC.

The other one is 13115 East 29th St.

I think these are the right addresses. I am looking them up on Google Maps.

Both lots are smaller. But they both back up to the greenbelt/city park. And they both have a LOT of potential. One has a pool though, that really needs to be filled in. There are also a few that are along 24th and 27th Street just east of 129th..... I think one has a larger lot.

I really like this area. It is close enough to the "country" that it really does not feel city. But close enough to the convenience I need.

@lonnyandrinda That would be so funny if that happened!!!

I'm definitely going to have to look around that area. Some of the lot sizes are definitely too small for what I want but I'm seeing some (on Zillow) that might work. Thanks for the tip!

And yes lonnyandrinda, I appreciate the thought but... I'm not exactly the confrontational type :)
