So how many roos did you end up with? Do your hens have big combs just not real red ones?

Homeschool mom to 4 boys and one baby girl, a dog, a roo blrw and his 4 girls(1 BO, 2 rir, and 1 EE), 2 quail and 8 bantam chickens(1 roo and 1 hen d'uccle, 1 hen sboe, bb red oe hen, and silkies(buff, white, lavender and black))

I believe I have 4.  It is hard to say still.  I have only had one crow and that was the one that I was uncertain about to begin with.  My current BR laying hens have beautiful red combs, not as big as my Comet laying hens combs but still nice red.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I feel it's better than starting a new one about the same thing.

6-7 weeks old. I'm afraid I have a roooooooo

Looks like one to me but I am no expert!!  I still don't know what mine is!!!  Mine is only 4 weeks.  5-6 weeks is suppose to make it easier to tell!

Looks like a girl to me but maybe you can post a close up pic of its comb and waddles.

I am a Wife and a Mother. We have 2 dogs, and our always growing flock of chickens(Barred Rocks, White Rocks, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, Marans, Japanese Bantams, Silkies, Silver Laced Cochin, Silkie/EE crosses, and a Cream Legbar Roo). We also have Bourbon Red Turkeys!  And now Ducks!!! Soon to be arriving Nigerian Dwarf doelings.

I would definitely say Hen!!  Dark coloration and from what I can tell of lack of red in the comb and waddle.

Yay! Thanks y'all. I was worried for a bit. It doesn't really have any waddles yet to be red and it's only pink around it's comb sometimes if that makes any sense. haha. Now I'm just worried about my polish haha. 4/5 girls is good :)

Ruh Roh - I have 6 chicks - got 4 from a friend who ordered them from a hatchery - and I couldnt let it go.

Was at a feed store (danger danger) they had chicks, i HAD to have this one, they of course told me pullets. "It" is a barred rock, and the above comment about a cockerels are FULL of personality is this one in a nutshell.  there is a barrier between "it" and my older chicks "it" chest thumps the container, pecks, screams, oh my. TON of personality.

now I am afraid she is - is a he. However the other chick has a MUCH bigger comb, same age.

anyone else have a very spunky chick?

Well it seems to not have the dark front of the legs which is indicative of a girl.  How old?  I am no expert.  I go back and forth with whether mine is a boy or a girl every day and mine is 4 weeks old.

That makes perfect sense!!!  I had the same thing depending on how the light would hit it I might see pink, other times yellow/orange.  Good luck!  I have still only had one to let out a crow but I swear from the looks of them all I have at least 3 roos but more likely 4/6.  Ugh!!!
