PEST and predator PREVENTION

I think I've read enough here about predator prevention, but until I just bumped into the thread "Snake!!!" it hadn't even occurred to me the coop would also bring mice and rats and fleas.

FLEAS??? I've had enough of fleas. Brought some in from the garden a few years ago and they're not completely gone YET!

So if anyone knows a proven preventative measure for any pest smaller than a chicken, please post it here. I can't be the only person who needs to know!

Organic solutions preferred but "any port in a storm" applies!

OK, my panic may have been premature...

I just found the Learning Center Articles and this page:

http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/chicken-predators-pests-how-to-protect-treat-your-flock

Haven't had time to read it all yet, but I DO notice that there is NO section for fleas....

http://www.ehow.com/facts_5210073_effective-diatomaceous-earth-fleas_.html I think this is your answer. I hope it helps at least. I bought it at tsc but havent used it yet as its still cool enough that bugs havent come out in full force yet.

I had heard about diatomaceous earth for lice and mites - didn't mention fleas, though.

But the link you sent clearly does.

Thank you!
