Hello from Southern Oregon - Page 2

Hello Joni!

Thanks for saying hello on my new member thread.  I hope you're enjoying So. OR.  I lived in Portland for almost 9 years.  I've been in Penngrove for 9 months now, after being far from the west coast for about 5 years.  I love it here!  I rent a house on a 30-acre farm, and just love all the farmland and livestock around here.  I guess that's part of how I got interested in keeping chickens.  I'm super excited to be a new chicken mama!  I'm starting small... just three hens (hopefully they're all girls!).  Hopefully some day I'll be able to grow the flock!

Good luck with your chicks!  Aren't they fun?!  :)

Hi again Garnet,

Sounds like you've got a great setup there on 30 acres!  I am sure the weather there will beat Portland's hands down!  I used to work in Rohnert Park.  It's wonderful country.  I do like southern Oregon.  Much like the Santa Rosa area (years ago) except about another 10 good degrees colder winters and minus the traffic.  All the best to you and your new peeps.  You'll be able to give each one it's due attention!  I've been enjoying my chickies immensely.  Each has it's own personality and charm.  We have just over an acre, a good size barn and the chickens will be able to free range roam in a nice pasture.    I still need to build them a nice secured coop however, now that will be some fun!!!  wee.gifThe chicks are growing so fast!    Take Care,  -Joni
