Trimming a Cross beak ?

I have a silkie cockeral (7/11) with a cross beak, and I was wondering if I needed to trim his beak back, since the top and bottom are not opposing each other?? Kinda like doing an incisor reduction on a parrot mouthed horse.

His top beak is starting to curl under.

If so, what is the best tool for the job?

Is he having trouble eatting? if not I would leave it alone

Nail clippers work well. Be careful not to clip into the 'quick'.

I think it is starting to hinder his eating. I will give the nail clippers a shot.

Thank you.
