Old girl is back in lay.

My old Warren, Warrren, is back in lay. She appeared to go into permanent retirement about last July, having slowed to about 2 eggs per week (not bad for a 'production brown' and she definitely had earned her retirement.)

Today, she made a b-line for the outhouse when I opened the door and shot behind the garden tools...."Almost looks like the old beggar wants to lay" I thought. Anyway, 10 minutes later and she is out....and behind the tools 5 eggs, plus the really hot one she has just laid!

Grumpy, bossy, noisy, and pretty she ain't (wore a poultry saddle all winter to keep her warm as she is balding with age.....but back in lay at a ridiculously old age.

Only problem is this laying frenzy seems to have hit all my girls and I am getting 20-25 per day. I could have a bath in eggs!

Lucky you. We have 18 layers and never do we get 18 eggs. I think the most we ever got was 17 and we had more layers at the time. Whats your secret lol?

Can only be the fact that we pretty well always have lots of green grass. We have weather which is VERY mediocre!
