seem like a good breed, if i had the room i would probably raise a batch of them they seem like they would be a good 4h starter show bird...considering i dont see many of this breed in my class...

Hello from SoCal. I'm new to BYC but found it so helpful before I brought my chicks home today! Thank you for putting together a wonderful forum for us newbies. I have one each of the following breeds (I couldn't choose!): Buff Orpington, Barred Rock, Cookoo Maran, and an Americauna. What can I say, I just couldn't choose. One item I would like to share. I received a great tip from my feed store for housing. I couldn't get the warm temp isolated to one area in their first home. They suggested I tape two boxes together and cut an opening for them to pass through. It is perfect. Now they can pass between the warm section for sleeping to another slightly cooler area to eat and drink. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to raising my Backyard Chickens!
