First, watching a runner duck run is awesome. They can find their own food. They aren't like pekins in water. Mine haven't started laying but I heard their decent.

Its not as fat and slow as a pekin, but its not frail either. I want a mallard but I don't want a flying bird. The rouen is great for that.

They are my calmest birds and are easiest to catch. They eat less than Pekins. I heard they also lay well, but mine are younger.

Is it just in NY where you have to atleast buy 6 ducklings from TSC?

Woah! Thats weird. Wonder why that is. Our store only gets one shipment for the entire year even though theyre in really high demand. Dont know what thats about, either...

Yeah at TSC and the local agways you have to buy atleast 6...they say its NYS law...I've never really looked into it, but they get quite a few shipments with the spring months. Then ones they are no longer cute and fuzzy you see alot of them on craigslist

It's different in different states, it just all depends what minimun the state or county decides is the magic number for agricultural use. For us its a min of 6 chicks and a min of 2 ducklings.
