Hello, everyone.
I'm brand new to raising chickens, but one month in, my four-week old girls seem to be doing well, getting feathers and personalities!
We're raising layers and have named them all. It cracks me up that the names my sons have picked suit their own personalities ... Mrs. Fowl (oh, the bad puns) from the college student, Elizabeth Taylor from the 16-year-old who thinks Liz was "smoking hot," and Allison from the 10-year-old. We don't know any Allisons. He said it was the first name that came to mind. We also have an Esmerelda, Beretta (that would be the hubby's choice), Loretta Lynn, Prissy, and Trouble (my pick and very appropriate!).
We just finished building their coop and not a moment too soon. They're outgrowing the large box in the basement. We still need to cut ventilation areas, but it's a nice coop and was a great family project.
I look forward to "meeting" all of you and will put up pictures as we go.
