New Duck Mommy - Page 2

Ducks will go crazy without having another duck (or chicken) as a companion. I strongly suggest you pick up another. It's getting to be that time of year so ducklings will be available at your local feed stores, Tractor Supply Co and other farming equipment stores.

Trust us on this, Soleil will need another feathery friend.

Congratulations though! Pekins are my favourite of the ducks.

1 Pit/Chowchow Puppy (Carmen), 1 Boyfriend (Xander)

5 Black Sexlink, 3 Red Sexlink, 1 New Hampshire Red, 1 Cockoo Maran, 2 Delaware, 6 Rhode Island Red, 1 RIR Rooster, 7 Pekin Ducks, 1 Cayuga Duck, 1 Guinea Fowl, 17 Californian Rabbits.

Incubator: 0

The wish list is much longer.

She is SOOOO cute! love.gif

I have a house ducky too. She has diapers & gets to take showers & run around after the puppies. She sleeps on my bed at night & makes a great alarm clock. Even when I don't have to get up...

I love it & I'm sure you will too! You'll make a great ducky momma!

You will do just fine with one duck. And so will the baby. But you have to be fully commited. Fulllly. big_smile.png

Yup! Like MamaDuck1 said. The way I handle one ducky is I give her more attention as I do to everyone else in the house,as unfair as it sounds it's not so bad. I love all my fuzzies, but the duck is there when I'm playing with or giving everyone their individual attention. She's outside when I'm playing ball with the dogs, she's sitting on the edge of the tub when I am washing the dogs,on the bed during movie time or at night she gets snuggly & wants me to let her under the cover. When I'm drawing she likes to sit in the dog bed on a chair next to my easel. She's worth all the attention because she has the coolest personality that has come through. You can do it,you just have to be commited & not give up after she's gotten used to all the love.

I know I'm repeating myself, but don't encourage any behavior such as sitting on your shoulder, climbing on you that you won't want them doing as a full size bird.

When evaluating data one should always consider the source and remember, no one wants to make illegal that which he wants to do.
