I've Found Something That Ducklings Like Better Than a Pool - Lots of Videos - Page 2

OMG!  That is a riot!  They are so big!  I love in the #4 vid one of the ducks keeps looking up and eying the shower a bit warily, but then goes back to what she was doing.  Too cute.

How is LD doing?

Wasn't it? Totally unexpected reaction. Thought sure that they'd take awhile to get used to the idea of running water, this being their first encounter with it, but apparently instinct was the stronger of the two concepts.

If you watch really closely in video #4 one of the quackerettes is near the waterer getting up after being flat on her back, little webbed feet waving in the air. That happened because several of them were so excited that they'd go racing around the pen at full speed, try and take a corner too hard, spin out and lose control. It happened several times, but that's as close as I ever got to catching one on camera. Just to funny!

Sunsinger, the duck formerly known as Lame Duck or LD is doing fine, and laying an egg a day. One day she even gave us two. We plan on starting introductions to the new kids in 4-5 days with her in a cage at first for safety. She seems to be quacking more, and we have high hopes that is because she can hear them.

When evaluating data one should always consider the source and remember, no one wants to make illegal that which he wants to do.

I loved the videos and the new toy, and thanks for the link about the pump, i have a small 110 gal. pond and am in need of a new pump and that price is very reasonable.  [the ducks don't use it just my gold fish] also that landscaping material is all you have inside the bucket?  that is really a great idea. let us know how Sun takes to the ducklings...

lol you can never put anything past a duck especially if it involves water. if all the ducklings could have got in that pool i think it would have needed refilled looking at their excitement.

lame duck hanging out with the ducklings would probably maker her extra hyper from watching the ducklings play. don't worry ducks don't relentlessly bully new comers like chickens do.

be more like lame duck = my water , no this is my waterhmm.png

You're quite welcome. I used a smaller version of that pump in a turtle pond, and it was very reliable. In case you didn't know, turtles are even messier than ducks. The pump comes with all kinds of spraying attachments and valves. It also has a built-in foam filter that is very easy to clean.

The system isn't doing much for the sediment on the bottom of the pond, (didn't expect it to) but the water seems to be staying clearer so far. Another plus is that I don't expect mosquitoes to be a problem with the water disturbed that much.
