This was really easy to do, all it took was

1 sheet of plywood   $21. cause we wanted thicker, nicer ones and I won't use the wafer board

3  1"x2" 8ft   $1.25 ec

1  24"x48" wire for top  $5.

6  vinyl tiles at .79 cents each   $4.80 (for bottom easy clean up hopefully)

1 pack of 2  Hinges   Walmart $2.99

1 pack of I hooks Walmart  $1.99

So approx $41 to make an about a hour of labor.

It would of been less but I added hinges, I hooks and vinyl tile.

I've found that the 2x4x2 is about the perfect size for an all-around brooder for us. Nice job on the construction.

If, okay, who am I kidding, when I have chicks again, maybe I will try builing one out of OSB.  I started with a cardboard box, then added another with a door inbetween.  I then switched to a bigger box. Mine are 3 weeks old and this is my current set up. I moved the light up one drawer every week to adjust the temperature smile.png

They are in my son's old room, so I can keep the dog and cat away from them. Otherwise I would probably have them in the living room ;) I'm probably going to have to duct tape cardboard extensions on the 2 short sides before they are big enough to go outside. Now one jumps on the top of the feeder and another on the side of the box when I take off the gate to feed/water them.
