Turkey husbandry

Thread Starter

Does anyone have good information about turkey keeping?  I'm picking up two young turkeys tonight.  They will probably become Thanksgiving dinner for my family and another.  It's been a desire of mine for a while to raise my own dinner.

We are already set up for chickens so feeder, water, room to roam etc is all taken care of.  Is there anything else we need to know?

Thanks!

Rather than write out the whole story, there are many past threads that can be searched for that explain how to raise a turkey.  Disappointing that nobody else replied, but this is a common question that can require a lot of detail to answer fully.

The short answer is feed them higher protein and you'll be fine.

Chickens were fun...until I got turkeys!
Narragansetts, Golden Narragnasetts, Royal Palms, Calico, Standard Bronze, Red Bronze, (and a few BB Bronze..but don't tell anyone!)
Mixed flock of laying hens
Mixed-stock pigs

Two-many horses
