It went great, they were very good with them allowing the chicks to crawl and fly on to them. My male would get excited and his little nub would get wiggling like crazy.IMG_4869.jpgIMG_4870.jpgIMG_4871.jpgIMG_4875.jpgIMG_4878.jpgIMG_4879.jpgIMG_4880.jpgIMG_4881.jpgIMG_4886.jpgIMG_4888.jpgIMG_4890.jpgIMG_4893.jpg

Great introduction! Letting the chicks on top of the dog shows to the dog that thee chick is dominate, especially the 3rd from the bottom. Great looking dogs!

I was a little nervous since the birds could be swallowed whole by either of my dog's. But it went very well. My dog's are very well behaved for the most part.

This makes me want another rottie even more love.gifI have a RottiexPit mix who is great with my chickens  he is the most well behaved with  other animals and children alike out of all my  other dogs (which were great danes). People who think just because they are rotties or pits that they are "bad" dogs just don't know dogs tongue.gif

Thank you SO much for posting this, I have been going through pictures of my Rottie girl so I can have her portrait sketched. She was my baby but passed away in '09. She was also EXCELLENT with all of the birds, she would be sun bathing and have babies crawling all over her & she loved the ducks.

They're just the BEST! and your pups are beautiful. Your boy is the same dark color my girl was, I just adore the darker mahogany & black marked ones love.gif

My boy is quite dark he looks lighter in these Pic's then he does in person, I am a fan of the color. My female is large for a female and she is very strong she looks like she works out for a living she is very well defined.

Those are great pics. I love rotties, they are so sweet to the babies, feathered or otherwise. Makes me a little sad though our boy turned 12 this month and is starting to show his age, we are starting to say our goodbyes. I miss the days of wrestling and playing with him in the yard.

Our rotties only reaction to the chicks has been to poop at the front door of the coop every morning. He is not exactly a fan of the girls so we keep them separate.

I hope the introduction of my dogs to the chickens goes as well.  If it doesn't then the invisible fence will get moved to around the chicken coup to prevent mishaps.  Our full blooded rot is just over a year old so hopefully she won't want to 'play' with the chickens.  The only one I'm really worried about is the hound dog/rot mix.  We shall see how things go . . .
