I have two green egg layers. For two days in a row, I have found an egg (probably from the same chicken, but I cannot be sure) that were covered in yolk.
I have a roll away next box, so it's rare (though possible if one gets stuck) for a chicken to peck an egg.
So when if first happened, I thought an egg either got stuck and eaten thus making a mess on the other egg, or more likely the covered egg was cracked on the way down and somehow managed to get egg all over itself (also strange because when that's happened in the past it just seeps out rather than covering the entire egg).
Day 1, I just gave the yolk covered egg to my dog thinking it was cracked.
Day 2, I seriously scratched my head. I washed it out and can find no crack.
What's shaking here folks? Is it possible that it was ready to come out and then went back in (like a double shelled egg) and got covered in albumen and yolk then came out again all messy?
Could that possibly have happened two consecutive days?
