Set eggs April 3rd, who's with me!!?? - Page 9

Well, I had my first chick hatch yesterday evening, and the last today at noon. They're all already in the brooder. I have 5 Ameracauna chicks, and one very weak Buckeye chick that needed help. 6 chicks from 22 eggs...pretty bad, but still better than my last hatch. I think my bator was contaminated. How else would I end up with SO MANY blood rings?

I've thoroughly disinfected the bator, and now I'm setting it up again! I had 16 eggs arrive today, with 16 more due tomorrow. I've gone hatch crazy!

Good luck to all of you! Hopefully you're watching your own little fuzzy butts by now.

My Broody Hen #2 sat April 2nd, two hatched last night, but Mama had them hidden. This morning I saw two, one is black with lighter lower tummy/butt, the other is chipmunk. This afternoon I went out and saw chick #3, thought it was a Buff (all yellow) but then I saw the legs (feathered) Boy was I surprised!

As I sat & watched the new little ones, I noticed a EE zipping, and out plopped a new baby! ep.gif

This Mama is sitting on 19 egg, do not know how many will hatch, just taking it day by day, and hoping that a hen will go broody soon, so I can give the remaining unhatched eggs to that Mama.

A total of 6 Marans have hatched and 2 Easter Eggers from under my broody silkie! Here's some pics!!

One is still in the incubator drying out some more, all of these hatched yesterday. The last little one seemed shrink wrapped, the membrane was glued to its body even though the humidity is approx. 70%. I helped it out or it wouldn't have made it, poor little thing is recovering and trying to stand up. They're sooo cute!

The hicks are under her, I'll try to get a better shot
