Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try putting a flash light at the door or a push light tonight a little before dusk. Maybe that will help. They are not interested in any sort of treats at all right now, so I don't think putting stuff up there will help (or let me clarify, they don't care if I have the treats, they will eat them off the ground later but they don't come running when I put them out).

@Daisy8s....they totally did that last night when I put them in. lol

Just to update - they finally started to go in at night. :) My trick - training them to use the ladder, one step at a time, with meal worms.

Great idea! I'll have to remember that. Chicks just arrived yesterday so I have a bit to wait.

my pop door is close to the ground so the ramp is no more than 12", but for several days i had to herd my group into the coop @ night.  it was hard trying to corral them until i started using a broom.  i would just kinda gently shoo them.  i would make the same noise each time.  it wasn't long before when they saw me get the broom, they would start heading to the coop.  a few would break away & they were harder to get inside, but most would go in.  that stopped after about 1 wk to 10 days.  then they started going in by themselves before i would even get there.
