HI! I am new to chickens, been wanting to get some for a while, started out to buy 4, have 6 and am going to buy 2 more. I am loving my new little clucky babies.

I also have 2 kids, a 3 year old and a 7 year old. My son bought one chicken with his own money so he can sell the eggs.

I now one one month olds:

Roo's:

Black Turken
Brown "Ameracuna" (that is my avatar)

Hen:

Golden Frizzle
Black Copper Maran
2 White Silkies

My turken and the Maran are already chasing down bugs!!!

I am wanting to add either 2 black australorps OR 2 Barred Rocks. I wanted to add 2 layers, and I am NOT interested in the RIR or Leghorns.

Get one of each

Home of the world's cutest dachshund, one crazy blue heeler, two cats,
one fat pony, and many (but not too many!) chickens

Can anyone tell me, how many are too many chickens?

Hi and welcome-byc.gif from Ohio. So glad you joined. Since I could only pick one I choose the Australorp because they are an excellant layer that is cold hardy. Otherwise all three are good choices. thumbsup.gif

Barred Rocks and Black Australorp are both great chickens. That would be a tough choice!

frow.gif & welcome-byc.gif from Alabama. Glad you joined us. They're all great choices, but I'd choose Australorps.
