Here is our recipe from a friend in northern Wisconsin. I am trying to remember this off the top of my head so it may be a little off on quantities.
Bummy's Cowboy Beans
1 pound of hamburger, browned and drained
2 cans of Bushes Baked Beans
4 cans of beans - I use red kidney beans, white kidney beans, black beans and butter beans. Use wha tyou like and have on hand.
1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce - Famous Dave's "Rich and Sassy" is highly recommended, "Sweet and Zesty" is not as spicy
Salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Mix together and simmer for 1/2 hour. Add more BBQ sauce if it seems too blah. I think we end up using the entire 12 ounce bottle.
Bummy didn't drain the beans, so his pot of beans was alot saucier than mine - I drain the 4 cans of plain beans, but not the Bushes Baked Beans.
