Black Copper Maran?? OR???

Yellow feet and blackish legs with light feathering on the legs (none on the feet like my Cochins have)

Has anyone seen this color pattern before? It kinda annoys me that someone would advertise this as a Black Copper Maran if they are not even close to being one! Any guesses on what mix would create this?

It very well could be a BCM , with what they call over melinization, or to much copper and or brown in places it shouldn't . Sometimes it can go away as it feathers out , however yours dosnt look to be very good stock , but that is very comon and is usually the case form a store. I've never even seen BCM in a store it could be that the chicks are from a local farmers culls.

That would make sense. I have NO plans on doing any kind of breeding so that doesn't really bother me. Do you think I will still get dark eggs though? Our local Wilco has had the Maran's a few times. We have quite a few Oregon breeders. I guess it's because the Maran is known for being good in the wet that is the Pacific Northwest

Thanks for asking. We are at the 11 week stage and I still don't even know if it's a pullet or not. I posted a thread in the what is this section with a few of my birds and only got one response.

And I am sure that while she may be ugly on the outside, her eggs are by FAR the darkest I've ever seen! Here is a pic from todays, guess which one is hers! lol
 
what does she look like? i hatched some marans chicks that have brown at the tips of every wing like yours but they got killed by a dog :/
