Greetings from Michigan [Antrim] - Page 2

Sounds like a plan! True, it's always better to be safe than sorry. We've always gotten our chickens in pairs, but that's somewhat more to do with them having a friend when they're being integrated with the rest of the flock rather than having one to fall back on.

I've always been more of a chick person too, I think it's better to raise them from a young age, it gets them used to being round people anyhow.

Here's a quick "blueprint" of the insides. http://imgur.com/tkMsB

Green - run space

Orange - living space

Red - misc storage space/possible brooder location

Yellow - run ramps

Gray - entrance space

Door will open inwards to prevent possibility of being snowed shut.

I was leaning towards Orps but ended up choosing the Black Australorps in favor of their color. Seems they are derived from Black Orps anyhow. It was next to impossible finding anything but Buffs in my area.

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
