Does our run need to be predator-proof? - Page 2

I was hesitant to bury something that I had no way to check on- I hated the thought of waking up to a massacre because I can't check the cloth burred.

I have 24" of hardware wire all around the outside of the coop. Layed flat & burried under a couple of inches of DG (decomposed granite). I'll never see the wire again & it's only 2" deep.

I don't understand why people think they need to burry wire 2ft deep? The animal is gonna start at the top & as soon as they hit wire, they stop. Why make them dig 2ft first?

I like the look of the lattice. I am going to look into doing that or something similar. I also need to get more hardware cloth for the bottom couple of feet of the chain link fence. Thanks for the ideas and input, everyone!!  My chickens thank you! big_smile.png
