Will these breeds get along in the same coop?

I am getting some mixed hatching eggs. clap.gif Before I get them I am trying to plan for the new coops I will need.

I already have a mixed flock that I can add to but I know some of the new ones I have in mind will need a place of their own.

I am thinking of the following breeds:

silkie  (to act as broodies) jumpy.gif

WFB Spanish bantam (just because I like the looks)

Black Sumatra

Salmon Faverolle

Mottle Houdan

Araucana

I know the silkies will need to be kept from some of the new and most of my originals as they are all large fowl.  Which if any of the others listed will be OK to mix with them?  I normally let my hens free range in the evenings but figure I will need to keep the silkie and Houdan confined all the time.

Any suggestions out there from people who have mixed flocks?

Will the Faverolle be OK in the Arkansas heat and humidity or should I reconsider them?

Thanks.

If the silkie is with them from day one, or like only a few days and grows up right with them they would be okay with the other breeds, if you get them seperate they probably should only live with other bantams. I have two silkies they were a measly one month younger then my other birds. It didn't work out. The hens were mean to the female, and the roo bullied all the hens and left many with bare butts. Needless to say they were seperated. If it had been just my hen I don't think it ever would have worked. The roo was her protecter and only reason she survived in that flock.

2 cats, 1 dog, 5 black sex links, 2 reds, 1 speckled sussex, and 5 silkies, 2 plymouth barred rocks, 2 buff orpingtons, 2 austalorps, 1 deleware, 2 EE's, 3 Mutts, 2 mixed roos, 2 golden laced,2 silver laced, and 2 blue cochins and 15 betta fish (so far), 1 little sister.

Any others?  Will the Faerolles survive the heat and humidity?

Although I'm in PA, we do get our share of heat & humidity. Faverolles are fine here in the summer.  I'm not familiar with Sumatras, but the others should all do well together. I've had all of them together, except Houdans, but a friend has had Houdans with her Favs &

Ameraucanas, where they did just fine.

Blue & Splash Ameraucanas

Salmon Faverolles

Cuckoo, Blue Copper & Black Copper Marans

Blue Swedish Ducks

Muscovies with a death wish

English Shepherds

Send me a PM if you want more info on a group order of BB white turkeys. Pricing looks pretty good.

Thanks Beaglady.  I lived in New Jersey for a year just outside of Philly.  If your summer is anything like there, then the Favs should do quite well here.

Would the Favs be OK with the silkies and Houdans?  I figure I will put the Sumatras in with my Hamburgs until I want to get hatching eggs from them.  That might be an interesting cross with my Blue Hamburgs.  That just gave me an idea for a project.
