I thought this thread was gone. Anyway mine are in lockdown & their suppose to hatch tomorrow but I just looked & there's alot of piping going on. My fingers & toes are crossed. My hatches are always a day early. Its usually because the temps a little high. This time the temp was always right under a 100 & their still trying to get out early. Even though their piping it could be tomorrow before I see little iddy's. Good luck to all. I'll keep posting hope yall do as well.

I'm out of eggs. But I know where some brown ones are. I now raise big Ol' Honkin' Bob Whites & Layed back Coturnix. Pray For Rain In Texas!

One is out & another right behind her. Plenty of piping so hopefully lots of Iddy biddies to add to their new coop. I'll probably brood them in the coop.

Hooray for you new little ones!  Our hatch is complete!  yesss.gifWe have 26 chicks in a brooder and I chick still in the incubator drying off.  It was working on getting out yesterday, but didn't make it.  I could see the opening looked dry.  It had "shrink wrapped".  The read out on my bator gets water vapor inside and I couldn't see what the humidity was. Very annoying.  Plus my little ones kept taking out the red plug (had to tape it in).  When we moved the others we could see it's beak and it was still pipping so, I wrapped it in a warm wet rag for a bit and then carefully pealed it.  It is pretty wobbly, but trying to groom, so that's a good sign.  (I hope.)  I had one other start to zip and then stop.  I couldn't detect any signs of life and I had two eggs that didn't pip at all. (They were dark shells and may have never developed.  I wasn't sure about some of them.) Still not a bad hatch jumpy.gif

Hope your hatch continues going well.

My bad,  I guess I should say the chick got "sticky" as shrink wrapping happens before pipping.

Well today was suppose to be hatch day but yesterday was the big day. The bator was over loaded with iddy's this morning. I think I counted 40 thus far. I guess my roo can handle 26 hens. I'll probably add a few more cockerels for protection while free ranging.

So three of the six have hatched, but they are knocking around the others pretty bad. Two of them have pips and some movement, one has nothing....Do I take the three out when they are dry or leave them? I am so nervous I am supposed to leave in an hour and won't be able to do anything until morning.

Leave them.  Do not open the incubator while chicks are pipping or they will start to dry out and stick because of the reduced humidity.  If you absolutely have to open it, have a warm spray bottle of water ready and spray the eggs and close as quickly as possible.  Otherwise they are fine for another day or two.

I got to school today and the very last one had just hatched, all six of the eggs are now baby chicks, my students are way too excited.
