Chickens life!

well I'm going to start a little "diary" and hopefully others join me! i will be getting on everyday and writing an entry


so first entry!

Dear Diary,
yesterday i have set 3 eggs in the incubator. i did the float test to see if they were fertile! all three sank i just hope it works out good and i get a 100% hatch rate. i think i have become addicted to hatching. soon i might start selling some eggs once i get "enough" chickens. which wont happen because of chicken math but i should say one i run out of room! i will go out in a few minutes to collect some more eggs. i think my Silkie is going broody once again. she started flipping once i went in the coop yesterday to get eggs and she wasn't to happy so i will have a broody soon. if she gets a large clump of eggs i will let her be. might put her in a brooding cage out in the coop so no one bothers her like last time when some hens came in and ate some of the eggs sadly. well I'm going to go now so i don't bore you with my long stories!

Today my rooster says he is hungry. I have a small flock of sebright & sebright cross bantams. Also I built a small holding coop for 2 of my three bantie hens yeaterday, because I want to sell purebred sebright eggs. My favorite hen, named penguin ate a whole blueberry muffin yesterday. She said it was very yummy! I want to hatch eggs next year on easter and also get 2 turkey eggs to hatch. Well thats all for my first journal entry... but Ill be back!

dear diary,
i know i have already written today but just thought i should update. i just candeled and the 2 silkie eggs 2 days old or a little younger about 2 days looked like they had veins but i wasnt really sure.... there was this i dont know how to explain it. i cant upload pics because it wont let me. other wise i would. but there was also this tiny circle and everytime i moved the egg it would follow. i have never had this happen before. so if you have any ideas that would be great! well i best be getting going now gonna go help some people out with their questions they have!

Id be interested about the circle, my ducks eggs have been under broody hen for 4 days and I could see the circle (looked like a yoke) moving while I turned the egg. Does this mean its not fertile or it is developing. I'm going to see if I get better candeling this evening when its dark. But id really be interested about the circle silkielover1731.

i have been looking all over the site for something about the circle and nothing!

LillyBantam: i have figured out what that circle was! it is a yolk. I was told to wait and candle inill a few more days i cant wait!!!!!





Dear Diary,
yesterday when i candeld all my eggs had little perfectly round cirlcles in them moveing everytime i moved the egg. But you already know that. just refilled the troughth in the bator and turned the eggs. only 19 more days if everything goes right my mom gave me a chore list before she left today and she said if i didnt get it done i wouldnt have a "happy" easter and i think she might be getting me chicks! i really hope so cuz thats all i want! i cant have half the candy i usally get because of my braces so chickens would so make up for it. and not the chocolate chickens either the reall puff balls that i let sit on the keyboard and watch me type and sometimes they end up typeing!

Yea I got a chore list too Spring Break? I Hope you get those chicks....

Dear Diary,

My little hen named Penguin got to be out of the coop all day yesterday! Lucky her. She ate a bunch of the dryied paint off the deck. I have no idea why she does this, but has since the first time I let her outside. She is the ONLY chicken who does this. Shes so wierd. Any way I want to share my birdy wish list for next year. Here we go:

2 Turkey Eggs
2 Emu Eggs
3 Blue Splash Marans Chicks (2 pullet 1 roo)
2 Buff Orpington Eggs
2 Copper Maran Eggs

Thats my wish list!
