My Cinnamon Queens (Agn sigh) Crazy chickens!! - Page 2

I agree with Amarius, get your roo take him out and leave him in a cage alone for a few days, try three days so the girls can get all their problems worked out first.

Make sure the hen is not still bloody. Your friends are right, the sight of blood gets them all excited and they want to peck at it. There for drawing more blood. I had this happen to one of my hens when i first put he rin with the flock, my roo hated her. He felt like she was an outsider. Took him away for three days, he was depressed but other then that fine. The hens worked it all out and once they were fine i put him in and he was ok with her too. When you are mixing them together though watch carefully.

Thanks toshi, also noticed that the roo's comb has been pecked on and scabing up,saw this awhile ago.just seems crazy that all this would start a year later.I introduced the buff to the hens while he was young and they were about six mo,s old.and they did not like him at all .Had to separate till he got bigger and they findly left him alone.I like the idea of separating the roo and letting the girls hang out together to see what happens. They are amazing egg layers with big brown eggs and six a day to five since they started laying last year.I dont sell the eggs tho I just give the ones we dont eat to our friends as it is just me and the wife, and laying feed and chicken scratch does'nt cost much and last for a month or better.but there is one thing that comes to mind from me buying fresh eggs ,the eggs are big and brown but the yolks are not as dark as the ones i used to buy,I wonder why?

firetigris,

Ty I thought this too maybe a sick chicken. That the others might know something we dont, yet she seems heaIthy, still have her seperated and will try to place her with the other hens today with the roo seperated. If that does not work I have a friend who wants her to put with his chickens.

                                                                                      ty for your time.
