I just received my Cayuga Duck eggs.  I have never hatched ducks before.  Do I need to let them sit for 24 hours before I put them in the incubator?

I raise Black Copper Marans, Cuckoo Marans, I am just getting in to Faverolle's and Orpington's. I now have a Beautiful Buff Orpington named Dexter. He is 5 months old. I don't believe you have to leave them out for 24 hours

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?

I would recommend leaving them out, air cell up, for 24 hours before incubation. I found that many of the duck eggs I've received had broken air cells, which ended up costing me the duckling eventually. Letting them sit allows the air cell to regroup some and increases your chance of the eggs hatching. Duck eggs don't travel as well as chicken eggs, as far as I can tell. Good luck!
