If I plant grass seed will the chickens just eat it?

The weather has been insane.  Second rainiest March in history they say.  Well the ground is pretty muddy around the coop.  The chickens scratch and forage and most of the grass is gone now.  I wanted to plant some grass to bring some green back for the summer months but was afraid the chickens might eat the seed.  What do you guys think?

my chickens usally eat the grass seed. you could try to block some spots off plant it and when it grows unblock it and contuinie the process intill all of the area is done   hope this helps

I tried growing grass in my girls run. Well let just say they didnt eat the seeds but they ate every sprig as soon as it came up! lau.gif

I am a chicken fanatic!

    I love them all!

Along  with any animal!

 

I have stopped trying to post all my chickens on here because I have now come to the point where I have to many to post!!

 

Anyways, I have Serama eggs for sale. (Limited Availablility.)

My birds didn't eat the seeds but as soon as it started growing they devoured the sprigs of grass
