Is 26% Protein Too High??

Hi. I am wondering if 26% protein feed is too high for my mixed flock. It is a gamebird/turkey feed. Can I feed this to my mixed flock and for how long? I don't want to over protein my birds. Thanks!

It's pretty rich for mature birds. I'd back it off to 20-22% if it were me if you have gambirds or waterfowl in your flock. 18-20% if they're all chickens.

Really young birds would be different.

I feed 20% to my chickens & 28% to the quail.

I'm out of eggs. But I know where some brown ones are. I now raise big Ol' Honkin' Bob Whites & Layed back Coturnix. Pray For Rain In Texas!

The problem I see with it is that protein is expensive and you are paying for more protein than your birds are using.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah, I also keep quail. The feed order got mixed up and I didn't get the layer feed. No big deal as the feed store will replace it. But was just wondering if I could feed this high protein stuff to the chickens anyway. $2.00 more per 50 pound bag on the gamebird food. But I don't want to over do the protein on the chickens. Thanks!
