Arizona Geese!

Hi! how many folks out there live in Arizona and keep Geese?

Wow, hoppin thread!!

 

I live in Tucson and would really like to get a couple geese. Where abouts do you live? Have you had a good experience keeping geese in this hot dry climate?

11 Serama 3 Barnyard Mutt chicks 1 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte hens 1 Buff Brahma hen
2 Silkie chicks Easter Egger hen and roo 1 Black Jersey Giant hen 1 Barred Rock hen 1 Black roo
2 goose eggs and 30 serama eggs in the bator!

I've read that people in dry, hot climates have a lot of shady areas for their geese, not so much as trees, but man-made things (if you have trees then that's a plus!), something like this, http://d1raws287cqq80.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/imagecache/product_full/images/products/SM6047.jpg

And have a lot of water sources around, maybe including a kiddie pool.

 

If I remember correctly, there is someone from AZ that posted in this thread... http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/690124/drought-has-dried-up-all-my-grass-what-are-you-feeding   - yes I know its a lot of pages to go through, and if I had the moment available, I'd track 'em down, but it might also offer you some good tips smile.png

 

Geese are adaptable to any climate, provided that you give the appropriate shelter & nutritional needs. Good luck on your goose quest!

AZhenhouse had geese but i haven't seen her post in quiet a while. 

Living in the Beautiful Mountains of Western N.C.. with 16 chickens= EE's, Game, Cochin bantams,Light Brahma,  13Muscovy ducks, 1Embden Gander,1 Toulouse goose, 3 mini Dachshunds, 1 mixed breed, pond goldfish,  and a wonderful Husband who makes it all possible..♥
