Ameraucana or Easter Eggers?

Thread Starter

I bought these babies from a gentlemen today who told me they were buff ameraucana, but he also called them easter eggers.

I came home to look up information on them, and read that there is difference.

Would anyone be able to tell me from these pictures?

The first two pics are the same baby, and the third pic is the other.

Thank you.

TSC and many hatcheries sell chicks they call Ameraucanas' which lay blue/green eggs. They are also known as Easter Eggers. Not positive from your pictures but it looks like you have a pullet and a little roo. Congrats on the new babies!

Yes, ee = Easter Eggers. Whatever they are called, they are great birds and it's fun to collect blue/green eggs. Lots of abbrivs. for different breeds of chickens on this site. I had to look at cheat sheet on Learning Center to find out what different posts were meaning, when I first started on this site. Down the road if, you cross your ee with a brown egg layer you can get a oe  = Olive Egger and then have a olive egg layer. LOL

Easter Egger- but no worries- they have the best eggs!  And mine is SUPER sweet... although my rooster was a total punk.

Angela, over run with peckers.

Just wondering how you can tell at this age that a chick is a roo???

Some breeds feather out faster if, they are pullets. I've bought straight run chicks and been able to get just what I wanted by looking at wing and tail feathers.

Sorry, idunno.gif I don't know. I have only used it on Ameraucanas, Orps, Barred Rocks & RIR's. So far, all the ones I have sexed have been right on using feathering.
