Neighbor's Roosters are trying to kill my Rooster :( - Page 2

Fire up the BBQ pit and I'll be over in time for dinner. Seems like after 24 hours someone should have come looking before now. He must not give much of a ****.

Love those Orps!

I don't care why the chicken crossed the road, as long as mine don't!

i would do exactly that

fire up the BBQ after warning the neighbour what his roos are doing

i have a semi cat issue here myself

not let hens out unless im there so not had any attacks but when im not around the cat likes to sit by the coop and watch them

i know he aint watching for entertainment as he killed a wild bird the other day

I like the hose idea.  I would try to get a hose long enough to get to the fence and wait.  Then, as they're flying over, hit them with the cold water and continue to spray until they go back home (maybe?).

I don't know if it will work, but it sounds like a lot of fun!!! big_smile.png

Good luck and sorry to hear about your girls being bullied!

My advice is to clip the primary flight feathers of his roosters and put the back in his yard.

It does, at that! And here I am a cat lover. But I'm not a lover of people who let their cats roam in my yard.

If you and he agree to clip the roosters wings, remember to only clip one wing.  A bird can fly even with clipped wings, but if you only clip one then the bird will only be able to fly in a circle, and not very high.

Had a good ending to our story...

We went ahead and called the neighbor over. When he saw all the trouble his roosters caused he was beside himself. My husband helped the neighbor clip wings (took advise and only clipped one wing).  Next, they went next door and fixed the coops to make sure no one could escape again.

The next day my neighbor came back over to let us know he did find some hens for his roosters. His roosters are now happy they have their own ladies. Now they have lost interest in tearing each other up, the neighbor is so happy.

Originally, someone sold him those game roosters and told him he could "stud" them out and make $$idunno.gif. I don't know much about gaming chicken business...

So far so good. I have not seen anymore stray roosters. Everybody is now happy again. My chickens are back to freely running around my yard again terrorizing my rose bushes, insects and other creepy crawly things  yippiechickie.gif

Glad to see this story has a happy ending.  I hope he got an adequate amount of hens!

I had trouble with neighbors before. I've read all the posts here and some solutions seem like good advice. If roos can fly over your fence, then you really need a better fence. I'm thinking privacy. Worked for us but was expensive. You know the saying ..."Good fences make good neighbors"!!!
